Herbal Informatics Workshop

Center Study of Biopharmaca (PSB) IPB had created a model in compounding herbal-based information system. The herbal medicine information system was named si-Ijah (Indonesian Herbal Information System). This system would much help the industry player or the individual who wanted to develop the herbal-based business. 

 

Related to herbal plants contained in the database of  Herbal Informatics were the plants that had been officially released by BP-POM RI. The herbal industry players could do various compounding herbs from the herbal informatics system, explained Ir. Rudi Heryanto, MSi in the Herbal Informatics Workshop held at IPB International Convention Center, (9/9).

 

According to Rudi, with this information technology, it was the new way in the web-based herbal medicine compounding. That did not exist before this case, said Rudi. Moreover, this system could become the basis for the making of herb medicine, but we still developed the system, he added. 

 

Moreover Rudi added that this system also used the CTM system formula consisting of four plant components based on the concept of balance and harmony. The fourth plants were the imperial plant i.e. the plant as the major component in the formula, the ministrial plant i.e. the component supporting the major component, the assisstant plant i.e. the component which was able to reduce the side effect from the major component, and the servant plant i.e. the supporting component to maintain the harmony. Herbal formula structure was also based on the pattern of regularity of the pharmacological activity.

 

This event was held in the 50 Anniversary of IPB and attended by practitioners, universities, business actors, health service, Agency for Research and Development and BPPOM. (dh)
