IPB Retirements Are encouraged to Start Entrepreneurship

Dozens of retired faculty and staff members of  IPB were invited to attend a special meeting on  entrepreneurship presented by Prof. Musa Hubeis, at Grha Widya Wisuda, Darmaga Campus, on 28 November 2012. In his presentation, Prof. Musa  motivated those retirees to start businesses, they should not  afraid to take risks in starting the business or entrepreneurship.

"There is no limit of age to start entrepreneurship, check with the inventor of KFC (Colonel Sanders started to offer the KFC franchise at the age of 65) or DELL  computer (was  invented by a kid of 14 years old). Furthermore, entrepreneurship won’t reduce  our   life because our brains are forced  to think. Debt is actually the cause of our  short life, "he said.

The primary key in the business is that our products must be standardized nationally or internationally, otherwise they  unacceptable internationally.  In addition, we should  use a zero waste materials that can be recycled with the help of technology. "Moreover, we should establish markets before starting the  production process," he explained.

In addition to get entrepreneurship materials, on this special  occasion the participants who are retirement of IPB were also being offered by  Agribusiness  Development Center of the Unversity  Farm (ADC-UF) IPB for the joint cooperation. The Joint Cooperation being offered by the  Head of the University Farm, Dr. Anas D. Susila, will be the  cultivation of jambu Kristal (a  new species of guava).

"We’ve established the markets, they are some malls in Jakarta that demand about   40 tons per year. But so far, only about 50%. Of those demands are met.  Therefore, in this occasion, we invited you to join us, "he said. (Wied).
