The public policy was a decision made by the country as the strategy to realize its goal. “The excellence of a country is increasingly determined by how well the country develops the superior public policy. Here it is the statistics plays an important role in processing data and recommending various decisions in the policy research,” thereby said the Professor of Statistics of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Prof.Dr. Khairil Anwar Notodiputro in the program of The 8th Statistika Ria 2012, Saturday (28/9) in Campus of IPB Darmaga. Prof. Khairil cited the distribution condition of graduation and the school profile and the absorption analysis of math problem. “The information is processed and gives an impact of policy intervention on school,” said Prof.Khairil.

Rector of IPB, Prof.Herry Suhardiyanto, in his welcome speech, said that the excellence of IPB alumni was on the ability to think analytically. “The students are used to analyze the subject related to nature and organism like plant, animal, microbe and so on complexly. This is what makes up the alumni of IPB to be able to be adaptive in any condition,” said Rector.

However, Rector called the students and alumni of IPB should not be fanatical alma mater that would lead to narcissism. Rector hoped that the students kept listening and learning the superiority from other universities. “This nation needs the unity of alma mater that will help to solve various national problems in accordance with the superiority respectively,” said Rector.

Besides seminar, various series of activities among them were talk show, basic statistics competition, national statistics competition, and book review. The Winner of basic statistics competition this year was the Mathematics Department, the Faculty of Natural Sciences of IPB. Meanwhile, the Winner of National Statistics Competition was achieved by Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and entitled to bring the Trophy of Andi Hakim Nasoetion. The activity of National Statistics Competition was followed by 17 universities among them University of Indonesia, University of Padjadjaran, State University of Lampung, State University of Riau, State University of Padang, Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Statistik (STIS), UGM, University of Diponegoro, and so on.
