Festival of Herbal Small-Medium Businesses

As part of IPB 49th Anniversary, Biofarmaka Research Centre held a Festival of Small-Medium Business. The participants are small-medium businesses in traditional medicine and herbal medicine. The event was held in front of the Biofarmaka Research Centre,Taman Kencana, Bogor, (29/9).

This herbal medicine festival was also enlivened by a drawing competition for primary school pupils by raising the topic "Love Herbal Drink". According to the Head of Biomedical Center, this is to introduce herbs or medicinal plants early because now people’s confidence is beginning to fall as many herbal products use synthetic materials, so in an effort to restore public confidence in the efficacy of herbal medicine, we start from young children, who many of whom do not know the drugs which are derived from natural ingredients. Even they might not know that the herbs commonly used by their parents for cooking can also be used as medicines.
 
The Festival was opened by the Vice Rector of Business and Communication IPB, Dr. Arif Imam Soeroso. When opening the event Dr. Arif took the opportunity to encourage visitors to always drink herbal drink. In addition he hopes herbal products can successfully promote Indonesia internationally because currently there are about 300 plants developed into drugs and about 10 products already on the market. This herbal medicine festival was attended by 12 small-medium business of herbal medicines. (Mtd)
