Muri Records, 4200 New Students Consumed Analog Rice Simultaneously
The Launching of Analog Rice, 49th IPB’ Dies Natalis officially opened
A total of 4200 freshmen of 49 cohort consumed Analog rice simultaneously in the closing ceremony of the New Student Orientation program (MPKMB) which was part of a series of the 49th Anniversiry of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Saturday, 1 September 2012, at the Dramaga campus, Bogor.
Consuming rice together in the Anniversary with the theme "Inovasi IPB untuk Ketahanan Pangan Nasional (IPB Innovation for National Food Security)" was recorded at the Muri record, the highest number of students who consumed analog rice.
In addition, the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Suswono, together with Rector of IPB, Prof.Dr.Ir.Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc., took the opportunity to launch the Analog rice, new food Innovation resulted by IPB experts, Dr. Slamet Budijanto et al.
The 49th MPKMB was attended by several State officials, such as the Minister of Agriculture, as well as the Minister of Education and Culture, Prof. Dr. Ir. M. Nuh, Asda II West Java Provincial Government, Ir. Wawan Ridwan, and researchers/inventor of the Analog rice.
In his remarks, Rector of IPB, Prof.Dr.Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc., expected that the security system and food production in the future should be stronger.
"IPB with all its the potential will consistently assit the government in strengthening the food security and develop agriculture in the broad sense, and to support sovereignty of Indonesian and its food security," said the Rector in front of 4200 new incoming students.
Minister of Agriculture, Self-Sufficiency Is Not Enough, We Must be Surplus
Similar statement was expressed by the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Suswono. He stressed that Indonesia’s food security should be strong, and self-sufficiency alone won’t be enough. "There should be innovations that should be achieved in any situation. We should have stronger food security system and self-sufficiency won’t be enough, we must be food surplus, "said Minister of Agriculture.
Minister of Agriculture requested the new students to have a strong commitment to achieve their goals, to have competence in solving problem for the nation, and also establish a wide network.
The Minister of Education and Culture, IPB is the Store of Innovators
In front of the new students, the Minister of Education and Culture enthusiastically explained that IPB is a storehouse of innovators. The evidences, recently IPB always dominate the highest number of innovations compared to other universities in Indonesia since the year 2008 to 2012. In addition, students of IPB also always achieved the best in the Pekan Ilmiah Mahasiswa Nasional (National Student Scientific Week PIMNAS).
"Students of IPB must be the source of inspiration for world student movement, and they have proven their excellence products," he said.
The Minister of Education and Culture gave 4 (four) important advises, as students they should hold the honesty, science enthusiast (curius and always thirst for knowledge), should be benefitial, and should always develop the traditions and culture of the academy.Not only that, the Minister also promised to allocate special funds for the development of innovation for IPB.
The Closing Ceremony of the MPKMB cohort 49 which was concurently also the opening the 49th Anniversary of IPB was attended by 50 2012 Bidik Misi Scholarships grantees. For the special occassion, IPB students who won the Pekan Seni Mahasiswa Daerah (Peksimida) 2012, held in Jakarta, such as Yogi Novarionandes and Zahra Tamira, first winner of dangdut and pop songs, as well as the Satria Asa Negara, first winner for Keroncong, they performed their songs for the audiences.
