Halal Bihalal of Faperta and FPIK

News

Going back-home stories became interesting topics for the preachers giving tausiyah (advice) in the Halal bi Halal (mutual forgiving) meetings, organized by both the academic communities of Agriculture Faculty (Faperta) in the Auditorium of Toyib Hadiwijaya and those of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Faculty (FPIK) IPB in the Auditorium of Sumardi Sastrakusumah on Wednesday (29/8).

In Faperta, Ir. Baran Wirawan, M.Sc., a teaching staff of Faperta who was asked to deliver tausiyah, said that mudik (traveling usually a long distance to hometown) is also part of the worship. By going home, relatives can strengthen warm and affectionate relationship (silaturrahim) and forgive each other as well as give one another rizki (fortune acquired from working in town).

"During mudik, it should be intended to have silaturrahim (warm relationship) with relatives in the home villages; this good tradition ought to be facilitated. If during mudik traveling, the road safety is well assured, there will be no casualties of more than a thousand people like what has happened during this year mudik," said Ir. Baran Wirawan, M.Sc., who is also an expertise staff at the Ministry of Agriculture of RI .

Meanwhile, in FPIK the speaker, also a teaching staff, Dr. Mukhlis Mohammad Kamal, apart from talking about the issues of mudik, described the origin of halal bihalal meetings on the 1st Shawwal (one of Islamic months), which is, according to him, only in our country, Indonesia. The initiator of halal bihalal gatherings, Dr. Mukhlis explained, was Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Arya Mangkunegara I or Prince of Sambernyawa or Raden Mas Said of Surakarta or Solo.

"What he initiated is of course very positive. In a meeting that is attended by many people, we can mutually forgive at the same time," said Dr Mukhlis.

These Halal bi Halal activities in two separate places both gave awards and appreciations to the employees who will retire in 2012. In addition, in Faperta, such awards were also given to the lecturers and educational staff who have acquired achievement. (Mtd)
