The important Role of IPB for the Family Resilience Building in Indonesia
Dr. Euis Sunarti, the Senior Lecturer of the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences – Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA) IPB, was invited for the Morning Dialogue on RRI Bogor, recently. The theme the present talk of Dr Euis Membincang was on "The important role of IPB for the Family Resilience Building In Indonesia".
In her presentation, Dr Euis expressed that the toughness of the family starts with the matuarity of them to marry, because marriage is the basis for determining the toughness of the family. "By management, a person will be ready to anticipate something. We are able to rise in the downturn, the demands for the dynamic life such as today, "said Dr. Euis.
Dr. Euis added, that In the toughness of a family, the economic status, educational, sociological, and psychological background are very important. If all of these aspects are combined, they will form a formidable family. "But those are not everything. The most important of all is the religion foundations. If the basis of religion in the family is weak, then they will decide to divorce easily, "explained Dr Euis by adding, for the rural community rural authority will be repsonsible to handle it.
On the other hand, IPB is the only university in Indonesia that offers family circle by the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. The University is concerned to care and plays important role in dealing such case in accordance to the Higher Education Tridarma. One example is the establsihment of Post Family Empowerment (Posdaya) in 17 villages around the campus.
Through the Posdaya program IPB provides counseling, seminars and even training program that emphasize on how to build and foster strong and quality families. The implementation will jointly cooperate with the head of the village.
To close her presentation, Dr Euis appealed to the Indonesian community that they should care and help other families who still do not understand how to build strong families and quality. (Wied).
