Two Tons of Fishes for “Ngubek Setu” Event

Hundreds of residents of Situ Gede Village, old and young, and even children jumped into the pond (situ in Sundanese) to enliven "Ngubek Setu" event,  in the framework of 530th Anniversary of Bogor. The event was held jointly between the Bogor municipality with Tourism and Culture Services of West Java Province, on 23 June 2012. Not only residents of Situ Gede who participated in the event, but also residents of various cities around Bogor such as Sukabumi, Depok and Cianjur. They came to participate the "Ngubek Setu" event, to catch fishes in the pond just right next to the Village Office of Situ Gede.
 
"Participants from outside Bogor have been arriving to the events since last night. They spent the night on the rafts that float on the Setu Gede, "said Sumardi, a member of Bogor City Disaster Response Team that has been on duty since the night before.
 
For this special event, the West Java Provincial Fisheries Services has spread out about 2 tons of fish into the Setu. Governor of West Java, Mr. Ahmad Heryawan, in his remarks stated that the “Ngubek Setu” event is a community gathering event which carried out by the community together. "This event can serves as a venue for community gathering," said the Governor.
 
In addition, the Governor also promised to provide additional 2 tons of fish if the communities protect and conserve the Situ Gede well. He said if the communities manage the “Situ” well, it will become the superior tourist object of the area.

Similar to the statement of the Governor of West Java, Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, MSc who graced the “Ngubek Setu”, he expressed that to support the tourism potential of the Situ Gede, as this  village is one of the villages located around the campus, the Universitry will cooperate with Situ Gede Village to develop the area to be the agro-tourism area. As a first step, a ecotourism model has been granted by IPB for the Situ Gede Village. Moreover, through the community service program, the University has established the Post Family Empowerment (Posdaya) for Situ Gede village, it is “Posdaya Kenanga”. On this “Ngubek Setu”, event, “Posdaya Kenanga” displayed it superior products. (Wied).
