The difference between developing countries (poorer nations) and developed countries (richer nations) does not depend on the old status of the country. A country which is endowed with rich of natural resources does not guarantee that such country  will become a richer or a poorer nation. For example, Egypt and India which are over 2000 years old remain classified to be developing countries, while Singapore, Canada, Australia and New Zealand which are  less than 150 years old, have been classified to be developed countries. Japan is an island nation, about   80% of Japan is mountainous area. Only 15% of Japan’s land is suitable for cultivation, but this small country has successfully managed to become the world’s second biggest economy.

See also Switzerland, the country which has no cocoa plantations as it belongs into the temperate countries and as  its arable land is only 11% of its total areas, has successfully proclaimed  to be the world’s best chocolate producer. In addition, even in term of the security this country does not have good reputation for it, and integrity and order as well, but nowadays its banking systems are the favourite for the international customers.  "The executives from developed countries who communicate with their colleagues from developing countries will agree that there was no significant difference in terms of intelligence, race and skin color. The difference is in their attitudes or behaviors that have been formed throughout the years through culture and education, "said Dr. Ir. Dwi Hastuti as a resource person for the training program for early childhood teachers (PUAD), a joint cooperation program between  the Department of Family and Consumer (IKK- IPB) and the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM – IPB), at the  in IKK  Hall, Campus Darmaga, on 7 June 2012.

In Human Development Index Indonesia ranks 102nd in 2001,  ranks 110th  in 2002, and   ranks 112nd in 2003,  respectively. Currently the index places Indonesia at 124th out of 187 countries surveyed, she added. In addition, Index of Human Competence of Indonesia ranks 35th  of a maximum of 100. Indonesia is also the most corrupt nation in the Asia Pacific region. "These data show that Indonesia has suffered the degraded nation which are marked with the increasing violence among adolescents, the use of non-standard words and language, increasing vandalisms and bad habits (drinking, taking drugs, sexual misbehavior), the vague of good and bad moral standard, decreased work ethic, lower respect for parents and teachers, dishonest, having nonresponsibility determination, and suspicious minds, "she explained to dozens of early childhood teachers who represented their 51 early childhood  schools in 17 Villages around Darmaga Campus and 1 (one) early childhood school of Eastern Bogor.

Then how to develop Indonesia? According to Dr. Dwi the key factor is  human behavior, how should they respect the values and basic principles of life, which are the existing regulations in every nation. "The key success factor for individuals and nations is their characters. U.S. CEOs put quality as the main determinant of the success of a person in their working environment, "she said. (Wied).
