News

A variety of processed products such as sweet potato chips, corn chips, red ginger soft drink and handcrafted bags from plastic garbage made by Posdaya Mekarsari were displayed to welcome the groups from Bangli Regency, Bali in the Observation Study Tour to Cihideung Udik Village, Darmaga District, Bogor, (13/6).

Unsatisfied with only looking at the products on display, the visiting participants also went to see the fattening sheep site owned by a group of local farmers and carp hatcheries located several hundred meters from the exhibition. Vice Regent of Bangli, Sang Nyoman Sedana Arta was amazed when listening to a goat breeder who said this fattening business can give an added value to his farming group.

This Observation Study Tour (OST) is to understand the formation of Posdaya in Bangli Regency, Bali. Previously OST participants were trained by Damandiri Foundation in Jakarta for a day. The Vice Regent views that Posdaya Mekarsari has already involved all its elements to complement and support one another. The potentials of livestock, fisheries, posyandu, early childhood education and agricultural intercropping plants seem to have much synergized one another. Hopefully the information network already created will not break off, he concluded.

Further, Vice Regent hopes that back home from this OST we can create Posdaya like the one in the village of Cihideung Udik. According to Nyoman Sedana Arta, Regency government will not be alone in establishing its posdaya later because for Bangli Regency there will be mentoring, assistantship from five universities in Bali. These universities are University of Udayana, Undiksa Singaraja, University of Hindudarma and University of Warmadewa.

The OST participants at Posdaya Mekar Sari in the Village of Cihideung Udik were from various agencies in Bangli Regency and representatives of universities that will develop Posdaya in Bangli, Bali. The Vice Regent, after the visit to Posdaya Mekar Sari in the village of Cihideung Udik, had the opportunity to drop by visiting the Darmaga Campus of IPB. (Mtd)
