2.629 (two thousand six hundred twenty six) new students admitted into Bogor Agricultural University for the school year  2012/2013 were excited, proud and emotion when they met each others in the registration process, on Darmaga Campus, 12 June 2012.  Prior to the commencement of the registration at 07.00 am, both Common Class Rooms (CCR) and Ghra Widya Graduation (GWW) the venues for the registration were full of both new students and their parents. The atmosphere in the locations were so crowded especially  as the Regional Student Organizations (Organisasi Mahasiswa Daerah  – OMDA) from all over Indonesia screamed their specific yells.

OMDA is student organization which is formulated at IPB based on their regional origin. In addition to be the forum for the communication among fellow students, OMDA is also active in promoting and socializing about IPB to their previous high schools in their hometown.  The result, some of new students who were successfully interviewed, most often they take IPB to pursue their continuing study due to the influence of their senior students.  "I’m interested in applying for admission to  IPB after I learned about this university from their senior students. When their seniors who are now members of the Regional Student Organization (OMDA) of the University went home for promotion, with a strong of "IPB identity" and sociable, they present the university in flexible ways.   It seems that they love the University well, similar to chibi-chibi cherlybelle, "said Ikbal Taqiyudin, new student who is admitted to the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture.

According to one of the outstanding students of SMAN 1 Kuningan, West Java, he dicided to take IPB as the government planned to provide Bidik Misi scholarships for some prospective students who will successfully admitted, and as well as other scholarships adminstered by  IPB. The eldest of the three brothers is one of the recipients of the Bidik Misi scholarships chanellized by the University.

He was encouraged to reach his goals to continue his study. The finacial condition of his parents, who is a mediocre family and currently they have to pay  the school costs of his brothers, do not diminish her enthusiasm for learning. He is the  lucky man, as when he has been in his previous schools, he was always among the top one or two student in his school.

"With the provision of Bidik Misi scholarships, I was so happy as my chances to pursue my  higher education will be widely opened, because I come from poor families. In addition, I also expressed my sincere thanks  to my school as to the school allowed me to get my Raport  for the registration purposes, though I still have Rp. 750.000,- (seven hundred fifty thousands Rupiah) school balance, "he said

Similar to the experience of Ikbal, Alexander Bukit  of SMAN 1 Brastagi, North Sumatra,  finally he also found the way to pursue his higher education through the funding support of Bidik Misi scholarships. To complete his high school education, Alexander had to live in his own money.  After school hours, from 6 –  9 pm, he had to keep food store in Mickey Holiday Hotel, Medan, North Sumatra. On Saturday and Sunday, he usually works as the restaurant  waiter.  He used the money he earns from his part-time jobs to pay his school costs, as well as to shoulder the school costs of brothers.

"I am so happy to  be admitted by the Department of Economics of the  Faculty of Economics and Management  (FEM) IPB. I want to be a successful men and want to make my  parents happy as I could support their life, "he explained. Among of all new incoming students, 1.000 (thousands) of them  are the recipients of Bidik Misi Scholarships. "1.000 (thousands) slots were allocated for the incoming new students of IPB this year, these slots had been competed by more 1.300  (one thousand three hundred) students, they were  exceeded the quota. But those who do not successfully get  Bidik Misi scholarships  they should not worry, if they are really the less fortunate students (based on the terms and conditions of Bidik Misi Scholarships), there are still some other scholarships available at the University, " stated Ms. Megawati Simanjuntak, SP, MSi, the Head of Sub Directorate of Student Welfare Student of IPB. At the same occasion, parents / guardians of those new incoming students were officially met by Rector in the special discussion meeting. (Wied).
