IPB University strengthens its role as a global strategic partner in the fields of agriculture, human ecology, and rural development through collaboration with China Agricultural University (CAU).
Both parties signed a number of Memoranda of Agreement (MoA) and established excellent research centers focusing on China’s rural transformation and regional studies.
The cooperation includes:

This network is demonstrated through the upcoming visit of representatives from 11 polytechnics from Guangdong Province in the near future.
“IPB is committed to becoming a strategic partner in innovation development, capacity building, and human resource strengthening to support Indonesia’s transformation and Global South leadership,” said Dr Alim.
Dr Alim also emphasized IPB University’s reputation as a leading research university with the highest number of government-funded research projects in recent years.
“IPB University’s excellence in agriculture and forestry is reflected in the world’s top 50 rank in the QS World University Rankings by Subject, as well as national recognition as the best university in Indonesia’s SDGs Action Awards for three consecutive years,” he explained.
He continued, the drive towards interdisciplinary research has also led IPB University to the 60th rank globally in the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Rankings.
Meanwhile, the President of CAU, Prof Sun Qixin, expressed appreciation for his first visit to IPB University and Indonesia. He assessed that the signing of faculty based MoAs opens wider collaboration opportunities, complementing the previously existing MoU agreements.
“Inter-university collaboration has a major role in answering global challenges, ranging from improving quality of life, food and agricultural innovation, to sustainable rural development,” he said.
Prof Sun Qixin added that the strong economic and political ties between Indonesia and China need to be strengthened through university-based innovation. He highlighted the potential for cooperation in agricultural technology, the development of livestock products such as chicken, eggs, and milk, as well as increasing food productivity.
Furthermore, the collaboration also covers student exchange, strengthening joint research, and participation in international forums and conferences, including the World Agri-Food Innovation Conference and the global agri-food innovation alliance A20. (dr) (IAAS/HNF)
