Consistent! IPB University Wins SATRIA DATA Overall Championship for Four Consecutive Years
IPB University has once again achieved success as Overall Champion at the 2025 Statistika Ria and Data Science Festival (SATRIA DATA) held at the Islamic University of Indonesia, Yogyakarta (11/ 4–5).
This is the fourth consecutive time (2022–2025) that IPB University has emerged as the overall champion of SATRIA DATA. In 2025, this achievement was contributed by winning 1st place in the National Statistics Competition (NSC), 2nd place in the Statistics Essay Competition, and 3rd place in the Big Data Challenge.
The Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, expressed his appreciation for the achievements of the SATRIA DATA delegation team.
“Alhamdulillah, for four consecutive years since 2022, IPB University has consistently been the overall champion. This achievement is proof of IPB’s commitment to nurturing outstanding students, both in academic and non-academic fields,” he said.
Prof Arif emphasized that this success was not only the result of the students’ hard work, but also the learning ecosystem at IPB University that encourages collaboration, innovation, and healthy competition.
“IPB University continues to strengthen its academic and innovation culture so that students are able to compete at the national and global levels,” he added.
One of the delegates, Indra Mahdi, a Statistics and Data Science student at IPB University, could not hide his emotion and happiness when he heard IPB University announced as the overall champion.
“Seeing the relieved smiles on the faces of the delegates and lecturers during the announcement was a priceless moment of happiness. It felt like all the sacrifices had paid off,” he said.
Indra’s struggle this year felt special because after failing to win the championship twice in previous years, he finally won first place in the 2025 National Statistics Competition (NSC).
Indra said that discipline in college was the key to winning the championship. He considered the material and assignments to be the best “ammunition.” Actively participating in similar competitions also helped him build his mental strength and competition strategy.
He admits that his journey at SATRIA DATA this year was not easy, especially amid his busy academic schedule and conflicting timelines that often disrupted his focus. However, his discipline and determination paid off.
“The overall championship title is not the end, but rather the beginning of the difficult task of maintaining and improving my achievements in the coming years,” he said.
Indra hopes that collective enthusiasm can encourage the development of science, especially in the fields of statistics and data science. “I believe that change does not happen because of one individual. Stay Hungry and Stay Foolish,” he concluded. (Ez) (IAAS/RMH)
