Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, made an official visit to China Agricultural University (CAU) as part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation in the fields of education, academic exchange, and joint research.

This visit also marks IPB University’s commitment to encourage strategic collaboration in the development of smart farming.

“IPB and CAU both have concerns related to the development of smart farming. Yesterday we met the leadership of CAU, to accelerate the mobility process of student exchange, lecturers, and joint research activities,” he said, some time ago.

Prof Arif explained that CAU, which is known as the number one university in Asia in the field of agriculture, has collaborated with IPB University since 2022. Because at that time the COVID-19 pandemic had slowed down several initiatives, now both IPB University and CAU are trying to concretize various collaborative programs that have been initiated.

In the near future, said Prof Arif, several professors from CAU are scheduled to visit IPB University, to further explore the forms of cooperation that can be developed.

During his visit to China, Prof Arif also visited the ASEAN-China Center (ACC), an institution that is the center of cooperation between China and ASEAN countries. IPB University is scheduled to be invited to a conference themed Smart Agriculture which will be held in China in the near future.

“In China, CAU will also hold the same conference and involve us, so at this time we will encourage a lot of educational and research cooperation with universities in China,” he explained.

Furthermore, Prof Arif said, IPB University is also initiating cooperation with Peking University, one of the leading universities in China. With this step, IPB University shows its commitment to continue to expand international cooperation in order to strengthen the quality of higher education, and accelerate the development of sustainable agricultural innovation.

“Hopefully more and more of our students will go there and more and more Chinese students will come here for exchanges. Moreover, CAU is the number 1 famous university in Asia for agriculture, therefore we must have a lot of contact with them,” said Prof Arif. (*/Rz) (IAAS/NVA)
