Realizing Healthy Ecosystems, KKNT Innovation IPB University Students Invite Residents to Plant 1,250 Trees in Muara Village
IPB University Innovation Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKNT) students invited residents to plant 1,250 trees through the Seedling Planting Movement (Genbit) Program in Muara Village, Lebak, Banten, (27-28/7). The types of seedlings planted consisted of sea pine, ketapang, and mangrove seedlings.
Isna Giyovani Salsabila, a student of IPB University explained, planting sea pine, ketapang and mangrove seedlings aims to realize disaster resilient villages. The seedlings were planted on the coast of Karangseke, Tanjung Panto, Sawah Kabayan, Kembangranjang, and Karangmalang.
“These locations were chosen due to their favorable environmental potential and the need to maintain and improve the coastal ecosystem. The planting of sea pine, ketapang, and mangrove seedlings is expected to improve the condition of the coastal ecosystem, prevent abrasion, and improve air quality and biodiversity in the area,” said Isna Giyovani.
The IPB University student explained that the Bruguiera gymnorrhiza mangrove seedlings came from the Banten Province Marine and Fisheries Service Branch Office (KCD) in the Southern Region. These mangrove seedlings were planted on the coast of Karang Anyar. After planting, periodic monitoring and maintenance is carried out to ensure optimal seedling growth.
“The Genbit program in Muara Village is expected to be an example for other areas in efforts to preserve the environment and strengthen disaster resilient villages. Cooperation between students, the community, and various related parties is the key to the success of this activity,” said Isna Giyovani. (*/ra/Rz) (IAAS/PRO)
