The Clever One, Application Made by IPB University Students Who Can Detect Fish Freshness, Wins National Competition
Two IPB University students from the Study Program of Marine Science and Technology (ITK), Dhea Fajriati Anas and Syifa Afnani Santoso succeeded in creating "The Smart One". The Clever is a fish freshness detection technology that succeeded in getting 1st place in the Maritime Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI) at Hasanudin University, Makassar, last October.
"The Clever One is a technology to detect the freshness of fish by using deep learning methods. This innovation is in the form of an android application that will facilitate the community, "said Dhea Fajriati Anas.
According to Dhea, owners of food stalls need information on how to find out the freshness level of fish easily, quickly and accurately in order to prepare healthy and nutritious food.
"The inspiration is very simple. That is when seeing warteg owners, who every day need to prepare side dishes (fish). They need information on the freshness of fish easily, quickly and accurately, "said Dhea.
The advantage of this application is that it can determine the traceability of fishery products (to determine the origin of these products), the addition of detected fish species and increased accuracy by adding image data variations.
The Clever one itself is actually a further technological development of a tool to detect freshness in fish with an acoustic method developed previously by Prof. Dr.
Indra Jaya and team. The device is still large enough so that it is less practical and relatively more complicated to operate.
Dhea and the team hope that in the future the fish freshness detection algorithm can be implemented not only in the android application, but designed for industrial scale to make it easier to determine whether the fish detected are fresh, somewhat fresh or not fresh. (AVR)
