Head of the Working Group of Building Pathology and Termite Control of Faculty of Forestry of IPB, Prof.Dr. Dodi Nandika, conveyed, the war against the wood destroying termite in Indonesia had been longstanding, more than a century. It was said, the humans did a lot of winning various battles against termites, millions termites had been “destroyed”. At this time, hundreds of homes might have been “fortified” from the termite attack and thousands of cubic meters of building wood had been applied with anti-termite wood preservatives.

“But in totality the great battle against the termite apparently is won by the termite. The proof is, until today the termite attack in the building continues, even it tends to increase in frequency and intensity,” said Professor of Faculty of Forestry of IPB

Dean of Faculty of Forestry of IPB, Dr. Rinekso Soekmadi, said talking about the real termite control, Faculty of Forestry of IPB became one of the pioneers of the study of termite. Precisely in 1962, Faculty of Forestry of  IPB had found the research related to termite. “Meaning, Faculty of Forestry of IPB already realizes how important the termite is. At the time, the termite is perceived as the pest endangering the building, but now this termite potentially can be exploited for the human benefit,” he said.
