PKSPL LPPM-IPB Organized After the Rio+20

Effort to reduce the rate of natural resources usage (SDA) and the disposal of waste per capita, should be in accordance with the effort to lower the standard of life of wealthy people, both  in the developed and developing countries. At the same time, we have a moral obligation to improve the quality of life of the poor through the provision of appropriate employment to enable them to meet their basic  needs and improve their welfare.
 
The statement was expressed by the head of the Center for Study of Coastal  and Ocean Resources (PKSPL) of the Institute of Research and Community Development (LPPM) IPB, Prof. Dr. Tridoyo Kusumastanto, as one of the programs recommended by the Summit (SUMMIT) Rio + 20. Another program was to formulate to support the Earth to provide food, energy, water, and other resources, as well as the good quality environment for  healthy, comfortable, and sustainable world.

Prof. Tridoyo presented this in a Roundtable Discussion on the theme “After Rio+20: Pembangunan Berkelanjutan di Persimpangan Jalan”, (After the Rio + 20: sustainable development in a crossroads), on Tuesday, 30 October 2012, at the EDTC PKSPL, Baranangsiang Campus, Bogor. This special event was organized by PKSPL LPPM-IPB in Perhimpunan Cendekiawan Lingkungan Indonesia (Perwaku), and  International Society for Sustainability Professionals (ISSP), Indonesia Chapter.

The recommendations resulted from  such special event are expected to drive all sectors in Indonesia as how truly implement the sustainable development in Indonesia by creating a strong foundation. Due to global changes there is no clear direction. It must be admitted, when the Rio is over, it seems that everythings go silent. There is no implementation process that are closely related with the entire sector to be realized in term of sustainable development, "explained Prof Tridoyo

Presented in this special event  among others, were the  Director of Forestry and Water Resources Conservation, Mr. Basah Hernowo, Chairman of the Perhimpunan Cendekiawan Lingkungan Indonesia (Perwaku), Dr. Ir. Donny Yoesgiantoro, and Chairman of the ISSP Indonesia Chapter, Mr. Timotheus Lesmana. (Wied).
