IPB Traces Back Community Guidance in Karawang Regency
IPB delegation led by Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc held a supervision visit to IPB Profession Work Course of 2012 in Karawang Regenecy (15/7). The profession work of 2012 is conducted in the Districts of Lemah Abang and Tempuran, Karawang Regency. Faculty of Agriculture, Bogor Agricultural University, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture through the Big Board of Agricultural Land Resources (BBSDLP) forms the Mass Guidance Team 21. Students verify the field map and collect the data of field management and agricultural production as well as social aspects related to farmers.
After the visit to the location of the Profession Work, the IPB delegation went to the Village of Tunggal Jati Single to trail the location of Guidance Society, commonly known as BIMAS in the 1960s. IPB Group had also dialogue with the farmers on this occasion, which involved students in the activities of IPB Profession Work Course of 2012 and it is thus called 21 as it is an attempt to repeat the success of BIMAS activities in the 1960s, which also involved students.
The activities of BIMAS 21 aim to make maps of rice plots involving the students taking the Profession Work Course and develop a system for estimating rice production. The use of multiresolution image, which uses an optical image (ALOS and modis) and non-optical (SAR image) to create maps of rice plots and prediction of natural production is adopted for a large scale operation as the the small-scale studies been successfully performed.
The following day the group attended the activity of "Technology Show and Dissemination of Research Results of Indonesia-Managing Higher Education for Relevance and Efficiency (I-MHERE) B.2c. This would expose the various results of I-MHERE B.2c that has been done since 2010. (Mtd)
