Official Opnening of Integrated Cattle Farming in Ex-Mining Land
Minister of Agriculture Dr. Ir. Suswono, MMA, accompanied by Director General of Animal Husbandry and Health Dr. Ir. Syukur, inaugurated an Integrated Cattle Farming (PESAT) on a former coal-mining land, 15/5. Minister of Agriculture was welcomed by Chief Executive Officer of PT. KPC, Ir. Endang Ruchijat; East Kutai Regen,t Irsan Noor and IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, MSc. In his speech, Minister of Agriculture stated that the program (PESAT) is a farm development model on a former mining region, which other mining companies can implement.
The signing of MoU was conducted Rector of IPB and CEO of PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) in 2008. PESAT is built on a land that was ten years ago still an active mining area of the KPC. Faculty of Animal Science, led by Dean Dr. Ir. Luki Abdullah, MScAgr., Coordinator of Cooperation Dr. Ir. Panca Dewi MHK, MSI and the implementating team have been working together in the development of PESAT on the aspects of site selection, detailed enginering design, apprenticeship of cattle ranchers and business incubator of Bali cattle. For the apprenticeship program a number of the Faculty members are assigned involving: Ir. M. Agus Setiana, MS., Prof. Dr. Ir. I. Komang GW, Dr. Ir. Rudy Priyanto, Ir. Dwi Joko S, MS., Dr. Ir. Idat Galih Permana, MSc., Prof. Dr. Ir. Erika B Laconi, MS., Dr. Ir. Kartiarso, MSc., Dr. Ir. Didit Diapari, MS., Prof. Dr. drh. Iman Supriatna, Ir. Lucia Cyrilla ENS, MS, Dr. Ir. Salundik, MS., Bramada W. Putra, SPT, Edit Lesa A., SPT., R. Hamzah, SPT.
Faculty of Animal Science with PT. KPC has helped the College of Agriculture (STIPER) in East Kutai through an Academic Development Workshop and a preparation of accreditation forms, with the assigned faculty members as follows: Dr. Ir. Luki Abdullah, MScAgr, Dr. Ir. Panca Dewi MHK, MSi, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dewi Apri Astuti, MS., Prof. Dr. Ir. I. Komang GW, Prof. Dr. Ir. Erika B Laconi, MS., Ir. Dwi Margi Suci, MS., Ir. Dwi Joko S, MS. PESAT is already independent in the implementation of apprenticeship and cattle business incubators by the assistance of local colleges namely Mulawarman University and STIPER, Local Government of East Kalimantan and BPTP of East Kaltim.
