Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) opened a Pre-University Program of 2012 (12/7) for new students with the Regional Representatives Scholarship (BUD) through the Scholarship Program of Outstanding Students of Islamic Boarding Schools, which is a cooperation between IPB and the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The event was held at the Mount Gede campus of IPB. The opening of Pre-University was marked by embedding the participating signs to two Pre University representatives by Vice Rector of Academic and Student Affairs IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yonny Koesmaryono, MS and Head of Sub-division of Islamic Boarding School, Directorate of Islamic Education and Boarding school, Drs. H. Imam Syafei. M.Pd.
The Pre-University Program this year is different. In the previous years the participants taking this program were only those achieving students to go for S1 program. But this time, the Ministry of Religious Affairs also provides scholarships for students who want to take the Diploma Program.
"The year 2012 is somewhat different from the past years. In 2012 the Ministry of Religious Affairs sends students not only for S1 program but also for the Diploma program. This is to accommodate the needs for technical personnel as well as Intermediate Experts who can later serve the Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia," said Director of Cooperation and International Programs, Dr. Rinekso Soekmardi. "Of the 40 people who get this scholarship, 20 are of S1 program, taking 13 majors and 20 taking the Diploma Programs for the expertise in Integrated Agricultural Production and Technology," added Dr. Rinekso Soekmardi.
Head of Sub-division of Islamic Boarding School, Directorate of Islamic Education and Boarding school, Drs. H. Imam Syafei. M.Pd. said, "I am quite proud to be present here together following the initial Pre-University activities, and also because IPB is the pioneer in the scholarship program for the students of Islamic boarding schools.". According to him, there are three focuses developed in the Directorate of Islamic Education and Boarding School. The first is how to make students knowledgeable; secondly they are healthy students, and thirdly they are professional.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Yonny Koesmaryono, MS expresses thanks for the trust given by the Ministry of Religious Affairs to IPB. "I hop that participants will become those who are highly knowledgeable in religion, have a high leadership and entrepreneurial vision so that we can apply our knowledge for the benefit of the people and build our communities," said Prof. Yonny. On the occasion, he advised that the participants use their skills with the help of the scholarship to become a Bachelor or Intermediate Experts in IPB. (Mtd)
