Scholarships from BNI Worth Rp 500 Million for IPB Students
IPB again has cooperation with Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI). This cooperation includes the development of education, scholarships for students and loans to employee cooperatives. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the Building of Common Class Room, Darmaga Campus of IPB, (27/6).
In this cooperation, BNI will provide scholarships worth Rp 500 million for the 40 poor students of IPB for 6 semesters. In addition,, BNI will also provide business credit worth Ro 2 billion for 1579 civil servants of IPB. The credit will be channeled through the IPB’s employee cooperative ‘Teko Sumodihardjo’. BNI will also repair the bike shelters and build Business Corner of BNI and Carrier Development Lounge to facilitate the recruitment of IPB alumni as employees of BNI.
IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, MSc in his speech thanked the leadership team of BNI for its assistance in many cases ranging from scholarships, bicycle shelters, to BNI corner. The bank will also launch platinum IPB credit cards. IPB Rector admits that the cooperation with BNI has operated for very long time, i.e., recorded as starting from 1970. Further, BNI has also helped by facilitating the debt settlement in the dormitory construction. Rector hopes this cooperation will continue and BNI will improve to achieve greater profit performance and certainly can provide more scholarships for IPB students IPB including IPB graduate recruitment. Rector also asserted that IPB graduates have proved to be able to work well in various fields including banking.
A similar view was delivered by Enterprise Director of BNI Risk Management, Sutanto that the cooperation of IPB and BNI has been going on long enough; and even in 1996, BNI sent many employees to take S2 (Master degree) programs in IPB. Not a few alumni of IPB have taken important positions at BNI branches across the country.
Sutanto added that to meet the need of cooperation in the educational development with IPB, BNI will pour roughly Rp 3 billion. Apart from that, with regard to the launch of platinum credit cards, Sutanto said the credit cards for the academic communities can indirectly contribute to the institution including scholarships, and through the BNI Corner and CDA Lounge, facilitation can be obtained by alumni to work at BNI. Sutanto views that in the long-term the cooperation can benefit both parties.
The event also invited two students, Siti Nur Amanah and Andi Facino, who were accepted in the Early BNI Recruitment. As a series of the event an Entrepreneur Seminar was also held, presenting a young entrepreneur, Billy Boen. Entrepreneurial motivation was transmitted by the young man, who was only 26 years when he was assigned to the general manager (GM) of PT Oakley, the youngest in the world at that time. (Mtd)
