IPB’s Bifarmaka Laboratory Accredited of ISO 17025
Biofarmaka Study Center (PSB)-Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held a National Seminar entitled "Standardization of Herbal Raw Materials with the Support of the Laboratory Accredited ISO 17025" on Tuesday (12/6) at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor.
On this occasion, PSB-LPPM IPB also launched the Laboratory of PSB accredited ISO 17025. The Certificate was submitted directly by Drs. R. Iskadar Novianto of the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) to Head of PSB-LPPM IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Latifah K Darusman, MS. This seminar featured presentations from several speakers including Drs. Hary Wahyu T, Apt (Director of Traditional Medicine Standardization), Drs. T. Bahdar Johan Hamid, M.Pharm (Pharmaceutical Services Director) and Drs. Iskandar Novianto (Head of Accreditation of Laboratory & Inspection Institution).
This lab of PSB was initiated in 2005. The presence of this laboratory is welcome by various parties. According to the Head of PSB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Latifah K Darusman, MS, it is a challenge for the Study Center to improve the service because indeed the center led by her has the responsibilities of conducting research and community services.
This accreditation is very supportive in improving the competitiveness of laboratory products in international markets. "Two months ago we obtained the certificate of accreditation, which is an important step for a lab in the field of research to continue improving its role. We continually seek to increase the scope of accreditation to gain recognition of an internationally recognized system", she said.
The lab of Bio Study Center provides testing services to the general public. Prof. Latifah also added, "We realize the development of bio-pharmaceutical products should be guaranteed of quality and safety so that the products are standardized. Therefore, we realize the importance of accredited laboratories to support excellent research and services in bio-pharmaceutical analyses". Head of Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Bambang Pramudya Noorachmat, M.Eng, who was present representing IPB management, congratulated and appreciated the achievement of PSB-IPB.
