Joint Prayer for Two IPB’s Security Officers, Victims of Shooting

Exactly one week after the shooting of two officers of IPB’s Campus Security Unit (UKK), (late) Supriatna and (late) Suhardi by motorcycle thieves, Friday (1/6), IPB’s academic communities held a prayer together in the lobby room of the Rectorate Building of Andi Hakim Nasoetion, Dramaga campus of IPB. The series of prayer began with the Ashar prayer in congregation, followed by the reciting of Tahlil and the verse of Yasin, led by Ustadz (Religious Preacher) Yusuf, the colleague of the late in the IPB’s Security Unit.

A serene and moving atmosphere was felt more when Prof. Dr. Kudang Boro Seminar delivered tausiyah or religious speech. Prof Kudang convinced those present that they (the late victims) are considered mujahids, or those dying in defense of the right. Therefore, Allah’s heaven is waiting for them.

"When we are deeply in grief over the departure of the deceased, in fact they are happy about the gift Allah has given to them," said Prof Kudang, Director of Communications and Information Systems (DKSI) IPB, which is also a hafidz (memorizer) of the 30 chapters of the Qur’an.

Earlier, IPB Rector Prof Dr Herry Suhardiyanto said that such an event have reminded us all that life and death are in the hands of Allah. Therefore, the duties should be made as part of our worship to Allah. "We should not continue to dissolve in grief. Let us again reinforce the security of the campus, improve management systems, and strengthen mutual help among us," said Rector.
 
The prayer was also attended the families of the deceased, who had the opportunity to receive compensation from Takaful insurance worth 20 million dollars for each. Another donation has also been handed over by IPB, amounting to 25 million rupiahs for each family of the deceased. (Mtd)
