Delegates of West Kalimantan Interested in Posdaya

The delegates of  West Kalimantan Province on their Observation Study Tour (OST) visited the Pos Family Empowerment (Posdaya) “Bina Sejahtera”, Pasir Mulya Village, West Bogor District, Bogor City, on Wednesday, 11 April 2012. The visit has added the numbers of the previous visits by other Provincial Governments and the City/villages from all over Indonesia to this Posdaya.  Posdaya “Bina Sejahtera”, is one of the Posdayas which are established and  under the patronage  of P2SDM-LPPM IPB (CENTER FOR HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT – Research and Community Empowerment Institute Bogor Agricultural University.  

The delegates consisted of 52 staff and led by the Head of the National Family Planning Coordinating Board (BKKBN) of West Kalimantan, Ms. Dwi Listyawardani. The reception of the delegates was held at the  Aula of SMA Rimba Madya, the working partner of Posdaya “Bina Sejahtera”.  The delegates were officially welcome by the Assistant Regional (Asda) II of Bogor city, Mr. Suratman Edgar, and Head of LPPM IPB, Prof Dr Bambang Pramudya,  and one of the researchers of P2SDM LPPM, Ir. Yannefri Bakhtiar, M.Sc.

Then, the delegates were guided for field tours to a number of demonstration plots of this  Posdaya.  “Bina Sejahtera”  Community Development.  Activity Early childhood Education Program (PAUD) Bintang Harapan, where its activities take place in the garage of one of the community,  a household wastes management and Goat and sheeps fatenning program, the communal toilets that supplies the raw materials for compost and liquidified fertilizer,  Posyandu (IHC) for elderly people, mobile libraries run by  SMA Rimba Madya students, and finally they observed the activities of the Sharia Micro Finance Institutions (MFIs).
 
"Of course, at beginning we had difficult to socialize Posdaya. To invite the community for a meeting, we had utilized the mosque’ loudspeakers to invite Majlis Taklim, as well as visited door to door to pick them up.  But Alhamdulillah, the honesty of the village leaders to serve the best for the community, they have made  the community empowerment program well implemented, and now all of our citizens have benefited from Posdaya, "said Iim Nurhakim, who is also Chairman of RW 02, one of member of  Posdaya boards.

According to Iim, the social activities of  Posdaya, the community development programs,  have reduced the number of poor families (Gakin). "Before the Posdaya was established in 2007, the record showed that number of  poor family were 122 (one hundred twenty two) Households. After the implementation of the community development programs through Posdaya Empowerment Program, their number have reduced into  65 (sixty five) households,  "explained Iim.
 
Iim statement answered the delegates  who  enqueried on the establishment of the  Posdaya. One of the enqueries were raised by Kamli, the village chief of the  Bengkayang regency, who confesed that he was so  interested in Posdaya. At the end of the visit, the delegates bought various products  of Posdaya such as Dodol Talas, Abon Lele, and Bandrek, the specialties of  Bogor. (Wied).
