A total of 11 IPB University students are ready to carry out the Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture on Innovation in Pura Jaya Village, Kebun Tebu Subdistrict, West Lampung Regency. The community service program will run for 40 days, from July 7th to August 17th, 2026.
The Regent of West Lampung, H Parosil Mabsus, expressed his appreciation for the trust placed by IPB University in selecting West Lampung as the location for the Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture
He hopes that the students’ presence within the community will generate creative and innovative ideas that provide tangible benefits for regional development, particularly regarding the local coffee industry.
“We hope that IPB University students can contribute through various innovations that enhance the value of the coffee industry, whether through the development of derivative products or strategies to boost the competitiveness of local products,” he said while welcoming the students at the West Lampung Regent’s Official Residence.
“In this way, West Lampung coffee will be recognized not only for its harvest but also for its processed products, which hold higher economic value,” added the Regent.
During their stay in Pekon Pura Jaya, the students will carry out various community service activities as part of the “Campus with Impact” initiative. These programs include mapping the potential for developing village based forestry related businesses, utilizing coffee cascara waste to create ecoprints and natural dyes, developing a tourism village website, and establishing an information center for archaeological sites.
All the achievements of these programs will be showcased at the Pura Jaya Community Festival, which will also feature a bazaar, cultural performances, a showcase of the village’s flagship products, an environmental campaign, and the signing of a commitment to the program’s sustainability.
Danang Aria Nugroho, SE, MSi, Secretary of the Institute for Agromaritime Development and Innopreneurship Acceleration (LPAAI) at IPB University, stated that the Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture embodies IPB University’s commitment to delivering tangible solutions for the community through the application of science, technology, and innovation.
According to him, collaboration between universities, local governments, and the community not only provides learning experiences for students but also strengthens development based on local potential.
“Through this collaboration, it is hoped that the development of the agriculture and coffee plantation sectors in West Lampung will be further strengthened through innovations in cultivation, crop processing, the strengthening of community institutions, and the development of entrepreneurship based on local commodities. Thus, the Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture serves as a tangible manifestation of IPB University’s role as an Impactful Campus while also promoting the sustainable improvement of community well being,” he said.
