The spirit of biodiversity marked the 3rd anniversary celebrations of the Museum and Gallery of IPB Future. Under the theme Biodiversity Chronicles, the series of activities included museum tours, campus tours, a talk show, and an exhibition of food innovations.

The Rector of IPB University, Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, conveyed a message of hope and appreciation for the Museum and Gallery of IPB Future, which is now three years old. “My hope is that this museum will continue to improve the quality of its services, I appreciate this year’s theme, which is biodiversity,” he stated during the official opening of the event.

Following the opening, visitors were invited to explore the museum to view the history and innovations developed by IPB University. In the museum’s pavilion area, participants enjoyed the Biodiversity Archive exhibition showcasing the richness of IPB’s biodiversity archives. Meanwhile, at the Food Sustainability Corner, visitors could view various innovative food products resulting from a collaboration between the Museum and Gallery of IPB Future with the Agromaritime Development and Innopreneurship Acceleration Institute (LPA2I).

Not only in the museum, the celebration also featured a biodiversity talk show titled Roots & Canopy: Narratives of Biodiversity from IPB. The discussion featured Dr Nyoto Santoso, Chair of the Department of Forest Resource Conservation and Ecotourism at IPB, along with the Chief of the West Java Provincial Forestry Service, Dodit Ardian Pancapana. A total of 202 participants attended the discussion on the importance of preserving biodiversity and ecosystems.

The atmosphere became even more engaging through the IPB Darmaga Eco History Walk. A total of 100 participants were invited to tour the campus via Uncal buses to explore historical sites while directly observing the rich biodiversity within the IPB environment. One of the locations visited was the Faculty of Agriculture area, which features a pine tree planted by President Soekarno in 1961.

The anniversary celebrations continued with a book discussion on “Plant Biodiversity on the IPB University Campus” at the IPB Library.

The museum’s 3rd anniversary also serves as a reminder of the vital role IPB University plays in preserving the biodiversity of flora and fauna. The Rector stated, “Indeed, a campus is not just about buildings and lecture halls; a campus is a living ecosystem. Here on campus, various types of plants and animals exist. Let’s preserve them.” (*/Rz) (IAAS/EXC).
