The IPB University delegation had the opportunity to interact directly with students from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), one of the world’s leading universities.

During this event, the IPB University delegation introduced the International One Village One CEO (OVOC) program along with its flagship products to SJTU students from various countries, including Indonesia, Pakistan, Brazil, and Ghana. The diversity of the participants backgrounds made this session a dialogue rich in perspectives regarding the potential of Indonesian local products in the global market.

The products introduced were premium Indonesian coffees from three renowned coffee producing regions, namely Garut, Lampung, and Flores, each with distinctive flavor profiles that reflect Indonesia’s agricultural richness.

This product introduction session was complemented by a coffee cupping activity. International students were invited to taste the coffees firsthand and share their opinions on the flavors of Indonesian coffee.

The students’ feedback provided valuable insights for developing marketing strategies for OVOC International’s coffee products in the global market, while also opening opportunities to build networks within the international academic community.

“Hearing firsthand the opinions of young people from various countries about Indonesian coffee provides a perspective we cannot obtain from data alone. This is the most authentic way to understand the market,” said Danang Aria Nugroho, Secretary of the Institute for Agromaritime Development and Innopreneurship Acceleration (LPA2I) at IPB University.

“Seeing the enthusiasm of international students as they tried coffee from Garut, Lampung, and Flores makes me even more convinced that our products have a place in the global market. It’s just a matter of how consistently we introduce them to more people,” added Diki Renaldi Maulana, an LPA2I staff member who participated in the event.

This visit reflects OVOC International’s commitment to building bridges between Indonesian village products and the global community through an inclusive, experience based approach rooted in local strengths in line with the “From Local Roots to Global Routes” mission that serves as the guiding principle of IPB University’s OVOC International program.
