A Farmer’s Child from Ciasem Admitted to IPB University Through the Achievement-Based Admission Track
Who says a farmer’s child can’t get into a prestigious university? Fitri Oktaviani, a student from SMA Negeri 1 Ciasem in Subang, has proven that hard work and a passion for learning can lead to admission to IPB University.
She was admitted to IPB University through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway. Currently, Fitri is enrolled in the Agronomy and Horticulture Program, Faculty of Agriculture at IPB University.
“I am very grateful and happy to have been accepted into IPB. I’ve always been interested in the world of agriculture and often witnessed the activities of IPB students and faculty here. This has made me even more motivated to learn and contribute in the future,” Fitri shared.
According to the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at IPB University, Prof Suryo Wiyono, Fitri’s inspiring story is closely tied to the tangible contributions of various IPB activities that have been actively conducted in the Subang region. These programs include the IPB Subang Innovation Village, biointensive rice farming support, and the application of precision agriculture technology using an Automatic Weather Station (AWS).
These programs actively involve students in hands-on learning processes in the field, thereby opening new perspectives on modern and sustainable agriculture. The direct involvement of the community in these programs has made agriculture seen as a promising future.
“The Faculty of Agriculture at IPB opens up numerous opportunities for collaboration between education, research, and community service. This serves as a unique attraction for students from rural areas to join, building advanced and sustainable agriculture directly from its source,” said Prof Suryo. (*Rz) (IAAS/LAN)
