Improving Welfare, IPB University Provides Educational Assistance for Employees’ Children
As an effort to enhance the welfare of its employees, IPB University has launched an Educational Assistance Program (BBP) for the children of employees. This policy is in accordance with the Rector’s Decree (SK) Number 237 of 2023. This program, managed by Directorate of Human Resource (SDM), is conducted continuously every year, including in 2025.
The Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria, explained that IPB has been running this program since 2023, aiming to improve employee welfare and help alleviate the burden of educational costs.
“This program is also expected to increase access to education, enhance the sustainability of children’s education, and support the government’s mandatory 12-year education program,” said Prof Arif.
Furthermore, Prof Arif mentioned that employees eligible for educational assistance for their children include; Civil Servants (ASN) consisting of State Civil Apparatus (PNS) and Government Employees with Work Agreements (P3K) of grades I and II, Permanent Employees of IPB of grade II, and IPB Employees with Work Agreements.
The children receiving educational assistance are those at the elementary school level (SD), junior high school level (SMP), and senior high school level (SMA). In 2024, there were already 896 recipients of BBP from various school levels, namely 519 from SD, 198 from SMP, and 179 from SMA, with a total assistance amounting to IDR 632 million.
“Alhamdulillah currently there are over 900 children of employees at the SD, SMP, and SMA levels receiving scholarships from IPB University,” said Prof Arif.
The assistance is scheduled to be distributed in July and December 2025, with amounts of IDR500 thousand for each elementary school student, IDR750 thousand for each junior high school student, and IDR1 million for each senior high school student.
In addition to monetary assistance, Prof Arif stated that the children receiving BBP are also given motivation during a fun gathering event. In this event, they are provided with various materials that encourage learning, inspire them to dream big, and are interspersed with enjoyable outdoor activities.
“The educational assistance will be paid through the employees’ payroll accounts, while the Fun Gathering will be held at the Grha Widya Wisuda Building, IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor,” he explained.
Moreover, Prof Arif emphasized that welfare is not solely measured by the increase in salaries but also by how much the burden of expenses can be reduced. According to him, the approach to welfare should be more comprehensive, including reducing essential costs such as education.
“Welfare is not just about increasing income, but also about how to reduce expenses. When part of the burden is alleviated, such as educational costs, it is also a form of improving welfare,” he said. (IAAS/KMR)
