TNI Soldiers Study at IPB University, Ready to Lead National Food Production Units

Amid global and local challenges related to food availability, proactive measures continue to be intensified. One such initiative is the Technical Guidance (Bimtek) for Production units aimed at strengthening food security.
The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) have demonstrated their commitment to supporting the government programs of Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka, particularly in the field of food security. A concrete step taken is the issuance of a Commander’s Regulation (Perpang) regarding the establishment of production units across all TNI branches.
In a statement following an event at IPB University, the Assistant for Territorial Affairs to the TNI Commander, Major General Mohamad Naudi Nurdika, explained that the regulation has been implemented through the formation of production companies at every Military District Command (Kodim), Naval Base (Lanal), and Air Force Base (Lanud) across Indonesia.
“The objective is clear—this is a form of TNI’s support for the government’s program, especially in achieving national food security,” he emphasized.
He further explained that these production companies will adopt an integrated farming concept. In addition to producing various food commodities, they will also process harvested products into value-added goods. In its implementation, TNI will involve various community components, including local farmers.
“TNI is collaborating with IPB University as one of the leading institutions in agriculture, livestock, and fisheries,” said Major General Mohamad Naudi Nurdika.
Through this collaboration, TNI is training its soldiers to become cadres who will manage production companies in their respective regions. It is hoped that after receiving training at IPB University, these soldiers will be able to share their knowledge and develop production companies across Indonesia.
IPB University’s Vice Rector for Research, Innovation, and Agromaritime Development, Prof Ernan Rustiadi stated, that this collaboration is part of efforts to strengthen the role of higher education institutions in supporting national food security.
“This Bimtek is a concrete manifestation of the strategic collaboration between the Army Headquarters and IPB University, which is considered crucial in efforts to strengthen community-based social,” he said.
He also noted that the issue of food security today involves not only availability but also innovation, production efficiency, community empowerment, and preparedness in facing global challenges.
Furthermore, Professor Ernan explained that the five-day technical training will cover a wide range of areas, including agriculture, livestock, fisheries, ecology, harvesting, and business ecosystems.
“IPB University hopes that participants will gain practical knowledge and skills that can be immediately applied in the field,” she concluded. (IAAS/RWA)
