KKNT Innovation IPB University Students and Karangkobar Puskeswan Provide Vaccines and Free Animal Health Services
Veterinary Care (Vetcare) is a programme raised by IPB University’s Innovation Real-Thematic Work (KKNT) students for small ruminant animal health service activities in Kepakisan Village, Batur District, Banjarnegara, Central Java. The programme is in collaboration with the Karangkobar Puskeswan and involves the hamlet chief, village officials, and farmers.
“Along with the representatives of the village, IPB University students collected data on the farmers for a week. Puskeswan Karangkobar then carried out door to door animal health services directly to farmers‘ cages in four hamlets, namely Bitingan Hamlet, Sikalam Hamlet, Krajan Hamlet, and Serangan Hamlet,” said Ido Muhammad Syam as the Village Coordinator of the KKNT Inovasi IPB University team.
Ido added that the purpose of Vetcare is to prevent disease in small ruminants. Vetcare is present because some farmers have problems with diseases in livestock, such as worms, bloating, and pink eye.
“Through this activity, it is hoped that livestock owners can prevent the occurrence of diseases in livestock. In addition, they also get services for disease management in livestock so that the quality of livestock in Kepakisan Village becomes better,” he explained.
In this activity, KKNT Inovasi IPB University students together with health workers from the Karangkobar Puskeswan conducted animal health services in the form of vaccines and other animal health services for free. Farmers can also ask for animal health medicines to the puskeswan officers. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
