IPB University Student Team Wins Poster in Tropical Forest Ecosystem Management and Innovations
The 2nd International Summer Course on Forestry and Environment “Tropical Forest Ecosystem Management and Innovations (ForSC2021)” was successfully held by the Faculty of Forestry and Environment, IPB University, last August. In this summer course, a team of IPB University students consisting of TB Aditia Rizki, Gintan Fatimah, Aulia Qonitatun, Gilang ocean, and Muhammad Arjuna (Jambi University) won the poster competition.
“They made a poster entitled ForestUs.id: IoT-based Mobile Application to Optimize Sustainable Tropical Forest Management in Indonesia. Meanwhile, the winner of the scientific article competition was won by James Loyd B. Acosta from Iloilo Science and Technology University, Philippines with the title "Juvenils: The Warriors of Tomorrow Land," said Dr Adisti Permatasari Putri Hartoyo as the Head of Summer Course.
Dr Adisti said, this year the ForSC2021 activity collaborated with the IFSA-LC IPB University student organization and collaborated with the activities of The 3rd International Conference on Tropical Silviculture (ICTS2021). This Summer Course was attended by 117 participants from 11 countries and 18 speakers from various universities in the world, practitioners, as well as private parties.
"ForSC2021 is expected to be able to answer the challenges in managing tropical forest ecosystems by encouraging the younger generation to come up with innovative ideas and solutions," Dr Adisti added.
The same thing was conveyed by Dr. Noor F Haneda as Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Faculty of Forestry and Environment IPB University. She hopes that this event will be a good start for the younger generation to be able to collaborate between countries and build a wider network for the sustainable management of tropical forest ecosystems.
This Summer Course activity was closed with a beautiful virtual tour from Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP) which was presented by Dadang Suryana, S.Hut, M.Sc as Head of Region III PTN Division, TNGGP Center. (**/Zul) (IAAS/YHY)
