SDGs Will Enter the S2 Study Program Curriculum
Sustainable Development Goals or known as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), must be a joint movement of all parties. All components carry out the movement. In the future the SDGs will be included in the curriculum for master's programs, so that when they graduate, students already have an understanding of SDGs.
This was conveyed by the Deputy Minister of National Development Planning (PPN) / Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) for Maritime and Natural Resources, Dr. Ir. Arifin Rudiyanto, MSc, while attending the National Seminar on Agribusiness for SDGs: Inclusive and Sustainable Agribusiness for the Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals at the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) International Convention Center (IICC), IPB Baranangsiang Campus, Bogor (3/10).
In the seminar which is still a series of activities for the 55th Anniversary of IPB, Dr. Arifin said that currently Indonesia faces the same challenges as Japan, namely the interest of young people who do not want to be farmers. Farmers in Japan are mostly 67 years old while farmers in Indonesia are on average 58 years old.
"For that we must really use the current demographic bonus, because in 2045 there will be more elderly people (older people) than at a young age," he said.
Another challenge is climate change. If not anticipated, climate change will greatly disrupt agricultural productivity. Earth's surface temperature rises to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
"In the future there could be a Java Sumatra water interconnection, given the current water crisis. Forest area trends will become more agricultural areas. This is a serious problem. There are 32 million hectares of land that are not forested, 72 million hectares are still forested. Then how to use the land that is no longer forested, "he added.
Meanwhile, the Rector of IPB, Dr. Arif Satria highlighted smart society. According to him, Indonesia is faced with agrarian, industrial, information and smart society issues.
"We need to present a new agribusiness that is more fun for young people. How to use technology in a system, "he said.
Currently there are massive changes from product based to platform based. Product-based products that have a time limit with assets that are very important, shift to an information-based based platform where regulations limit products and there is no interest in assets. This shift also makes people able to sell without having to own a shop and do business in transportation without having to have a motorbike / car.
There are three types of industry target platforms namely information thick industry such as the importance of tracking online shopping products, industries where data is scattered, there are aggregators in collecting data spread in industries that have high fragmentation and industry with information asymmetry, by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of products.
"There was also a change in the meaning of Ownership to Sharing Concept. Now, collaboration is an important thing. Sharing Concepts prioritize common interests in achieving common goals. Changes in maintaining trust and reputation are the foundation of life. Maintaining trust and reputation becomes a demand because every transaction we need is a rating of our clients and consumers. As lecturers are seen through evaluation in the Teaching and Learning Process Evaluation (EPBM). Once the Customer Service in the rector could have a rating from the users using 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars. So big data will condition everyone in a trust condition, "he said.
In addition there are also changes in new skills, ranging from complex problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, people management, coordinating with others, emotional intelligence, system skills, service orientation, negotiation, and cognitive abilities. These are all skills that we must master and will be an inspiration to IPB how to formulate a curriculum that can give birth to graduates with skills like this.
"And changes in spatial orientation. At present there are not many who glance at the village, but in the future the village will become a foundation with the economy and technology that will continue to develop. Along with people's awareness that people need environmental services and so on, "he explained.
Meanwhile, the initiator of this activity was Dr. Bayu Krisnamurthi, said that SDGs must be included in the business model. (NR)
