IPB Rector Symbolically Opened OMI 2016 by a Lit Torch

Rector of Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB – Bogor Agricultural University), Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto attended the opening ceremony of Olimpiade Mahasiswa IPB (OMI – IPB Students Olympic) 2016, at the IPB Gymnasium, on Sunday, 1 May 2016. This special  occasion was also attended by the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof.Dr. Yonny Koesmaryono, Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Sugeng Santoso, counterpart lecturers of each Faculty, Dean and Vice Dean of Faculty, the Director of the Program Pendidikan Kompetensi Umum (PPKU – the Educational Program for General of Competency), and Director of the Diploma Program of IPB.
 
Chairman of OMI 2016, Reza Herly Ady Nugraha, stated that OMI 2016 has been participated by 2,500 (two thousand five hundred) athletes to compete for 11 (eleven) branches of sport, on 1-29 May 2016. He expressed that the objectives of the OMI 2016 are to channelize the energy and vitality of students and make their leisure hours worthwhile. 
 
President of the Executive Board of IPB Students (Presma), Danang Setiawan, stated  that OMI 2016 is the expression of the warmth of brotherhood of IPB students. In addition, OMI 2016 will also be a unifying forum for IPB students to support the National Students Games in 2017.
 
The first item of the Opening Program for OMI 2016 was Parade Contingents, to read and sign the OMI 2016 pledge. The event opened with some performances some of which were parade of mascots, performances of Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM – Student Activity Unit),  Tapak Suci Putra Muhammadiyah of IPB, Gumakusi Percussion and Street Dance Community. Rector symbolically opened OMI 2016  by a lit torch.
 
In his remarks, Rector of IPB stated that the present OMI 2016  Opening Ceremony is the most festive event. Rector also reminded students to conduct themselves in accordance to the sportsmanship Code of Conduct, and no tarnish for OMI 2016. (Wied)
