738 Students of Bogor Agricultural University Will Depart to Inspect Animal for Qurban

Similar to the previous years, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) of Bogor Agricultural University will dispatch students to the various regions to inspect of animal for qurban. This Faculty will dispatch 738 (seven hundred and thirty eight) plus 50 (fifty) Faculty members to 10 (ten) areas, including the 6 regions for DKI Jakarta (Central, North, South, West, East, and the Thousand Islands), the City of Bogor, Bogor, Depok and Southern Tangerang City. They will be dispatched officially by the Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto,  M.Sc., in Bandung on 13 November.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Inspection Committee of Animal and Meat for qurban of 1431 H FKH IPB, DVM. Trioso Purnawarman, M.Sc. on 6 November 2010, in the Press Gathering of the Executive Secretary of Public Relations, with Reporters in Bogor.

"We involve the whole students of the Faculty, those who are at 3rd semester, coordinator assistant (Koas), and the Veterinary Profession (PPDH). This is obligatory, whether they are Muslims or non Muslims, this is a profession, "he said.

He explained further, that students who inspect animals for qurban have been equipped with both theory and practical knowledge, such as the ratio of organs of  ruminants (sheep, goats and buffalo), a medical examination before being slaughtered, a disease in cattle, meat and intestines health inspections, as well as meat handling after being slaughtered and its distribution.

We will provide maximum service to the area of Bogor, Depok, Southern Tangerang City and Thousand Islands. We will dispatch  students at  H-1 for these regions, to enable them inspect the animals before being slaughtered, "he said

According to Drh. Trioso, tips on choosing good animals for qurban are as follows, they should be healthy, lively, good appetite, shiny fur, no physical defects in their heads and mouths, shining eyes, not paralyzed, their ears are not torn, no broken legs and tails, and not thin. "Animals for qurban should fit to the requirements as described in Islam, one of which that they should be completeness. Fat and healthy,  but they are castrated, won’t be acceptable for qurban, "he explained.

In addition, the animals for qurban should be fairly mature.  For sheeps or goats they should be  over 1 year while for cattles they should be over 2 years. They could be checked whether  the two incisors have been changed from baby tooth into the permanent teeth  and the lower teeth have changed from white to brownish.
