Aid Students to Continue Study in South Korea, IPB Holds Sharing Session
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Directorate of Student Affairs and Career Development in collaboration with the University of Science and Technology (UST) South Korea successfully held a "UST Scholarship Sharing Session" in the Chancellor's Meeting Room, Andi Hakim Nasoetion Building, Dramaga Campus IPB, Bogor (3/10)
This event was held in order to screen IPB students or alumni in order to get to know UST and be interested in taking scholarships there.
UST South Korea has alumni who are integrated into a single volunteer group to disseminate information about UST scholarships, especially in the ten best universities in Indonesia.
The South Korean government has a lot of research funds issued in the form of scholarships at research universities. Lots of fund allocations can accommodate many students to get scholarships.
Presenting Muhammad Ridwan, Ph.D., alumni of the UST scholarship recipient, this event was filled with sharing and discussion about UST scholarships and college life in South Korea. The event, which was attended by undergraduate and graduate students, and also the alumnae, was attended enthusiastically by the participants.
Ridwan explained that UST is a South Korean Government-owned university with a focus on research-based postgraduate education. UST supervises 32 research institutions in South Korea. The study programs available include natural science, nano technology, biotechnology, environmental technology, information technology, and space technology.
Ridwan himself has lived in South Korea for seven years. According to him, every year UST needs students to carry out researches. UST alumni are also sometimes asked to provide recommendations for students who will be candidates for the scholarship.
In addition, Ridwan also provides tips and tricks so that student applications can be accepted at UST. "The most important thing is that you must determine your study and research program first. After that, try contacting the prospective professor, identify his profile by reading his writings in his journals. In addition, personal statements, English language certificates, and recommendation letters are also considered," he said.
One participant said that the event was very good because it could add information about scholarships abroad, especially to South Korea. "The plan is that I will register for this scholarship and hopefully it can be accepted," he said.
