IPB Cooperates with National Library to Train Librarians

The Library of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held Resource Description and Access (RDA) training for staff in library units and librarians at Dramaga Campus of IPB, Bogor (21-22 / 9). The training which was attended by 15 participants from various levels of position was opened by the Head of the Library of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Pudji Muljono, M.Sc.

In the event held thanks to the collaboration between IPB and the National Library, Prof. Dr. Ir. Pudji conveyed the importance of implementing the RDA in the management of library materials that continues to grow, especially digital collections. For this reason, it is necessary to have reliable and competent Human Resources (HR) in conducting RDA-based cataloging.

"The RDA is a guide and instruction for the description of access to information sources used in libraries designed to replace the AACR (Anglo American Cataloging Rules). The RDA guidelines in Indonesia are intended to provide basic instructions, applied as a reference for cataloging library materials and to facilitate cooperation in the use of library collections, "he said.

According to him, the purpose of the RDA implementation is as a more flexible framework for describing all types of material (analog and digital) and presenting data that is able to adapt to the emergence of new database structures. This training was guided by instructors from the National Library of Indonesia. (Dh / Zul)
